Duties

Help
  • Provides administrative support in the accomplishment of OGC strategic goals. Serves as an authoritative point of contact for all administrative issues.
  • Receives incoming correspondence, screens material prior to distribution. Manages the General Counsel?s calendar and schedules appointments.
  • Maintains the office management database document log tracking system. Serves as the timekeeper.
  • Establishes and maintains files in accordance with OIG regulations. Arranges for the retirement or destruction of material in accordance with the IG DoD records management policy.
  • Provides centrally located administrative control, accountability, resolution of problems, and determination of compliance, tracking and planning.
  • Coordinates OGC actions needed to implement procurement of equipment, supplies, and service and ensures regulatory requirements for procuring goods and services.
  • Serves at the alternate property custodian, responsible for ensuring the maintenance of property records. Ensures that an accurate inventory of all equipment is maintained.
  • Places supply and equipment orders through OIG General Service Administration (GSA) and contracted vendors. Researches requests for a cost effective use of the Government credit card prior to authorization.

Qualifications

52 weeks (one year) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience for the GS07 level is defined as: providing administrative support to office staff using interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; establishing and maintaining office files; using office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; conducting suspense tracking reviews; initiating, coordinating, and tracking personnel actions and performance appraisals; and maintaining calendars.

52 Weeks (one year) of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience for the GS09 level is defined as: providing a wide range of administrative support to office staff through the following: using interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; establishing and maintaining office files; using office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; conducting suspense tracking reviews; initiating, coordinating, and tracking personnel actions and performance appraisals; and maintaining calendars.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

  • GS-07 positions
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (SAA) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
  • Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Bachelors degree required or a senior in college can apply with certain considerations (please use link to OPM to determine if you qualify)
    • Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
    • Grade Point Average (GPA) -
      • 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
      • 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
    • Election to membership in specific National Scholastic Honor Societies.

  • GS-09 positions

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
