Duties

The incumbent of the position will serve as an Management Analyst.  As such, the incumbent will be required to complete training that will provide experience, knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position.  This position will allow for training, growth and opportunity.

This vacancy is open to recent graduates (See Qualifications).  Only degrees from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute education for experience. 

  • Performs duties as an entry level Management Analyst accomplishing a variety of developmental duties in support of the overall work of the organization.
  • Performs duties that include gathering and reviewing a variety of narrative and/or statistical data to prepare reports; conducting analyses of data to support conclusions or recommendations for action.

  • Participates in conducting performance and attestation audits. Responsible for the development of work papers and reports that document processes, including drafting objectives and conclusions.

  • Receives formal and on the job training and instruction to familiarize incumbent with the functions and operations of the program area and work responsibility.

This is a Pathway RECENT GRADUATES vacancy announcement with a positive education requirement

What that means is that an applicant MUST satisfy both the Pathways RECENT GRADUATES criteria as well as the education requirement for an Auditor as is required by the Office of Personnel Management Qualification standards.

ELIGIBILITY FOR RECENT GRADUATES PROGRAM: To be eligible, applicants must apply within 2 years of completing a qualifying educational program, i.e., within the previous 2 years, the recent graduate must have completed a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Applications are considered only if they meet the requirements of both the Recent Graduates Program and the educational requirements.  Applicants selected under the Recent Graduates Program are given a 1-year appointment to an entry-level position designed to provide a developmental experience that will lead to a career and a permanent position in the Federal Government. Permanent and/or career conversions for this vacancy are not guaranteed through this vacancy announcement. Management reserves the right to fill positions through other alternatives.

VETERANS’ ELIGIBILITY: The 2-year period of eligibility will be extended for preference eligible veterans who are precluded from applying within the two-year window due to a military service obligation. In such cases, veterans will have up to 2 years from the date of discharge or release from active duty to apply for the Recent Graduates Program, but eligibility cannot extend for more than 6 years after the date on which the individual completed his or her educational requirements. Veterans MUST show verification of service obligation during period in question.

Education

EDUCATION DEGREE/PROGRAM NOTE: Degrees earned MUST be in relation to the position for which the applicant is applying and/or coursework gained to count towards the semesters hours MUST be in relation to the position for which the applicant is applying.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS BY GRADE LEVEL:

GS-05: 4 academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree, OR Bachelor's degree

GS-07: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement OR 1 academic year of graduate education 

S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

  1. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
    2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
    3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
