Duties

Help

The Investigative Assistant, located in the Office of Investigations (OI) under the supervision of the Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Resident Agency in Charge (RAC) and limited supervision of the Investigative and Administrative Coordinator (IAC). The incumbent serves as the principal coordinator for case management administration and administrative support services activities for the office.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Write and submit subpoenas and catalogs subpoenaed information upon receipt.
-Create spreadsheets to compare and display information to facilitate the work of the SAs. 
-Assist in trial preparation by maintaining the case files and ensure sufficient copies have been made and are filed according to the predetermined organizational manner.  
-Fully responsible for the purchasing, distribution, and management of supplies. 
-Maintain a spreadsheet of all technical, office, and personal equipment which has been assigned to the office.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-08grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 
-Maintaining project files and keeping records up to date with pertinent information; AND
-Responding to inquiries regarding specific cases; AND
-Preparing background information and reports for staff; AND
-Preparing various routine office reports.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-08, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 
-Administrative support. (examples might include coordinating travel arrangements; purchasing supplies; or tracking technical, office, and personal equipment for military, VA, or other Government agencies); AND
-Assisting in the preparation of project files and gathering relevant information; AND
-Accessing background information from various data bases.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Public Trust – Background Investigation will be required.
