Duties

Help

The Bond Control Specialist serves in an Enforcement and Removal Unit. The primary purpose of this position is to manage, monitor and control the flow of all bond cases from receipt to disposition of the bond. Specifically, you will:

  • Oversee and manage assigned bond cases which include the review and determination/adjudication on bond cases that present motions along with making decisions which involve points of DHS law that include locating precedents;
  • Serve as the Bonds Appeal Officer; and
  • Receive administrative closure and final order case bond files from the Enforcement and Removal Assistant and/or Clerk.

Qualifications

GS-09: You qualify for the GS-9 grade level if you possess one of the following:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing duties such as: applying service and organizational regulations and procedures associated with bonds (i.e., accountability, collections, breach, cancellation); issuing bonds, reviewing and adjudicating bond cases that present motions; ensuring compliance with terms of a bond contract; and using and maintaining computer systems and programs; OR
  • A master's or equivalent graduate degree, such as L.L.B./J.D degree, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, from an accredited college or university in a field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position; OR
  • A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

Consideration will be given to performance appraisals and incentive awards as an indicator of quality of prior experience; no points will be assigned.
