Duties

Help
  • Responsible for all planning, procedures, and operations associated with CMHs Digital Archive to include design, growth management and maintenance of system infrastructure and architecture (in coordination with CMH Knowledge Management staff).
  • Assesses newly acquired electronic records for completeness, historical content, and potential use and advises supervisors and CMH historians of the newly acquired electronic source materials.
  • Analyzes newly acquired records by the Branch for value of historical content and potential use in providing information on which to base replies to future requests for historical information about US Army and related activities.
  • Provides reference and research service in the historical collections of documents on file in CMH.
  • Designee should be knowledgeable about the various repositories and depositories that maintain official documents.
  • Works with all FOIA requests received that pertain to CMH holdings, assure compliance with statutory deadlines and requirements for responses, receives input from CMH action officers, and drafts CMH written response.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic education Requirement for a Archivist

A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in archival science; or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

To qualify for the GS-12 level, applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11. Specialized experience is defined as:Analyzing newly acquired records for value of historical content on historical information; working with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to assure compliance with statutory deadlines and requirements for response; Planning comprehensive records and manuscript for historical research and writing projects; Providing research in the historical collections of documents on file within the organization.
