Help
  • Serves as principal advisor on all oversight activities related to protecting human research subjects.
  • Develops, monitors, and exercises compliance oversight relative to agency Regulations for the Protection of Human Subjects for research conducted or supported by any agency component.
  • Develops guidance on the involvement of human subjects in research.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of agency policies and programs for the protection of human subjects.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
GS-15: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service that included experience such as:

  • Developing programs for the protection of human research subjects;
  • Conducting studies related to ethnical and/or regulatory issues associated with the protections of human research subjects;
  • Providing consultations about human subjects protection issues to internal and external stakeholders responsible for and/or concerned about protections for human subjects; and
  • Performing supervisory duties such as: supervising a staff of public health and policy analysts and support personnel, identifying developmental and training needs of employees, and providing counsel to employees on both work and administrative work.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.

A newly appointed or reappointed employee may receive credit for prior work experience or active duty uniformed service that otherwise would not be creditable for the purpose of determining his or her annual leave accrual rate.
