Duties

Help
  • Conducts periodic audits, reviews, special studies and analysis and investigations of financial and other operations.
  • Manages the audit function at DISA and supervises a small number of auditors.
  • Participates in Audit Branch strategic planning.
  • Reviews and evaluates Branch goals and objectives and recommends adjustments.
  • Directs teams of staff auditors in the execution and follow-up of audits reflected in the Branch's portion of the DISA IG's annual audit plan.
  • Designs and maintains a performance-oriented risk assessment tool, performs risk assessments within the domain of Agency program management, internal controls, and compliance.

Qualifications

This position is located in the Defense Information Systems Agency/Inspector General's Office/Audit & Liaison Division/Audit Branch (FEC/IG21) at Fort Meade, MD.

Basic Requirements:

This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify for this position you must meet one of the basic requirements described below:

Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law
OR
Candidates may also qualify through a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of professional accounting experience (at least one year must be equivalent to the journeyman level) or an equivalent combination of professional accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses or a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor



Specialized Experience:

For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience with the planning and execution of audits assessing program effectiveness, economy, and efficiency, internal controls, and compliance with requirements for the agency.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing KSA's or competencies are required.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
