Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all public affairs aspects of State (President), Official (Vice President), and Special Military (Chairman and Joint Chiefs of Staff) funerals.
  • Develops and implements the public affairs Annex F and its appendices for state funerals.
  • Responsible for establishing DoD and DA policy and procedures for the public affairs portion of state funeral ceremonies.
  • Represents the public affairs officer in meetings, and in maintaining liaison with all agencies involved with state, official, and special military funeral plans.
  • Prepared to brief high ranking federal, foreign, state, local officials, international media, and senior military officials on public affairs procedures when required
  • Maintains established web-based digital collaboration sites for both internal and external audiences to ensure adequate information sharing opportunities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience Required: One year of specialized experience which includes establishing public affairs policies and procedures, maintaining liaison with public affairs professionals and/or senior news executives, and planning and coordinating state funerals and/or other high-level special events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

There is no educational substitution. You must qualify using experience alone.
