Duties

Help
  • Serves as the working leader to ensure team effectively accomplishes tasks.
  • Inspect modifications of missiles and missile components.
  • Utilize specialized test equipment to perform maintenance on missiles.
  • Operate forklifts to transport rocket motors, missiles and/or ammunition.
  • Operate technically complicated equipment that may be chemical, mechanical and or electrical in function.
  • Destroy rocket motors utilizing an Ammonia perchlorate Rocket Motor Demilitarization (ARMD) facility.

  • This position requires a Physical Examination.
  • This position requires pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Ammunition Certification (must achieve and possess within one year of employment).
  • This position requires confined entry training.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Munitions Operator (Guided Missiles) Leader without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical efforts- There is frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions, although there is occasional sitting down at work benches. It is required to lift, push, or pull a variety of times weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally some above that weight.
  • Working conditions- May work in an environmentally controlled area or in areas that are lighted, heated, and ventilated. Subject to high frequency noise, cuts, bruises, and burns or shocks caused by high voltage energy. Some outside work may also be involved. Subject to inclement weather, rain, dust, etc., and where extremes in cold and heat frequently occur. Some operations require workers to wear protective clothing and respirator.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • This is a Career Program (CP) 33 - Munition Operator position.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
