Research and apply mathematical, statistical, and text analyses using software and in coordination with other analysts, through the use of cross-industry standard process for data mining (CRISP-DM)/Agile methods.
Effectively communicate analytical methods and results to teammates and prepare technical documentation.
Assist project teams by translating requirements into useful mathematical, statistical, or text analyses that contribute value to the organization?s mission.
Assist with preparation of proposals by outlining the hypothesis, requirements, and potential impact of conducting the analysis.
Provide data preparation for statistical analysis.
Effectively work in teams to complete analytical projects.

Security Clearance: Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Drug Testing: The incumbent of this position is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with the DoD OIG.
Trial Period: A trial period may be required.

Internship Program Eligibility
Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis, as defined by the educational institution.

Qualifying Education Institution: Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education

Academic Program Requirement
Applicants must be in a degree program in operations research; or one that includes at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must be in calculus.

Note: Courses acceptable for qualifying for operations research positions may be taken in departments other than Operations Research, e.g., Engineering (usually Industrial Engineering), Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science. The following are illustrative of acceptable courses: optimization; mathematical modeling; queuing theory; engineering; physics (except descriptive or survey courses); econometrics; psychometrics; biometrics; experimental psychology; physical chemistry; industrial process analysis; managerial economics; computer science; measurement for management; mathematical models in social phenomena; and courses that involved application of operations research techniques and methodologies to problems of management, marketing, systems design, and other specialized fields; or other comparable quantitative analysis courses for which college-level mathematics or statistics is a prerequisite.

Minimum Requirements
You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-1599-07:
A. 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service applying mathematical, statistical, or text analysis using software packages.
B. One year of graduate level education in a related field. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. This determination is made based on normal course loads for a full year of study in the graduate program. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours will satisfy the one year of full-time study requirement. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
C. A bachelor's degree in a directly related major and meet Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. (1) Class standing-Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. G.P.A. as recorded on the final transcript. The final transcript must cover the period being used to determine G.P.A., i.e., all 4 years or last 2 years. (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society-Applicant can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed. These honor societies are listed in the Association of College Honor Societies. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education and any other applicable documentation to verify your claim.)
D. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-1599-09:
A. 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service applying mathematical, statistical, or text analysis using software packages and effectively communicating analysis results.
B. Having completed, or within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement will have completed, a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
C. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
