About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee about 45 miles northwest of Nashville. Both visitors and residents enjoy the shops and eateries of downtown Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.

Duties

Help
  • Serves as an Installation Geospatial Information/Services Network Operator, integrating Microsoft Windows, Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD), Geographic Information System (GIS), for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW).
  • Develops, maintains, and shares a thorough knowledge of CADD, GIS, Microsoft server/workstation operating system, hardware and software capabilities, operating procedures, and routine maintenance techniques.
  • Performs update and maintenance duties on the Digital Drawing Database(DDDB)utilizing DDDB Project Entry, DDDB Editor, and Project Index Creator Software.
  • Provides advice on alternate ways available to use CADD and GIS to accomplish desired functional result with the potential advantages and disadvantages of each alternative considering both the functional end product and the CADD and GIS system.
  • Produce hardcopies and/or digital copies of drawings from the DDD, GIS map books, and GIS Installation wall maps as requested by DPW personnel or its customers.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS),information systems, and computers to plan, coordinate, and accomplish all mapping, geospatial analysis, and related GIS tasks necessary to plan and execute a variety of construction projects in support of civil and military construction. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: Two years of progressively higher level graduate education degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
