The Network Administrator maintains a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network for the Southern District of Florida. The incumbent will deploy, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth and secure network operations. Network Administrator's ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and high availability of systems, networks, and data across the system development life cycle (SDLC), and creates, promotes, and adheres to standardized, repeatable processes for the delivery of security services. This position reports to the Computer Services Manager.
Major Duties
Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade corporate customers' networks, in-house and cloud servers (VMware and Microsoft products including ESXi servers, vSphere, Horizon View, High Availability [HA] clusters, Virtual Center and Hyper-V).
Participate in Business Continuation/Disaster Recovery infrastructure planning, building, and testing, including network performance, security, anti-virus, intrusion, web usage/monitoring, design, and acquisition of servers.
First line support for PC and Help-desk Technicians.
Install, modify, enhance, test, and implement standard configurations for deployment of workstations, servers, (both Virtual and physical) and other network components and client software.
Provide on-site network support for divisional offices and remote hearing locations. Resolve problems reported by end users.
Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency).
Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords. Inform managers or supervisors on emerging network policies and procedures.
Specify system requirements and design solutions.
Research and make recommendations on server system administration.
Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, information systems, or related field.
Knowledge of and experience with court operations.
Cisco Certification (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Organizational Relationship
This position is jointly shared and funded by the District Court, Bankruptcy and Probation. The day-to-day reporting relationship for purposes of management will be overseen by the Director of Automation for the District Court. Each of the CUEs for the three Court Units may deal directly with the IT Security Officer to provide policy guidance and direction on IT Security initiatives or projects relevant or unique to their Court Units. The incumbent will also be available to work on security projects impacting each of the court units independently.
Background Investigation
This is a High-Sensitive position within the Judiciary. Employment will be considered provisional pending successful completion of an OPM background investigation and credit check and a favorable suitability determination. Investigative updates are required every five years.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years of specialize experience is required. This experience can be in network administration, data processing, office automation, and data communication, including project assignment that involve systems analysis, design, programming, implementation, integration and management. Must possess a demonstrated ability to recognize causes of and analyze problems and recommend practical solutions.
In addition, candidate should possess the following:
Proven experience in a network administrator role.
Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching.
Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
Experience with firewalls, internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired.
Ability to set up and configure server and switch hardware.
Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
Excellent organizational, prioritizing and multitasking skills.
To qualify at the CL 27 level, candidate must have two years of specialized experience, including at least one-year equivalent to work at the CL 26.
Education
