However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sewing Machine Operator~ without more than normal supervision. You must be able to perform common sewing duties of lengthening and shortening garments; operate a sewing machine to make alterations and attach patches to garments. You must work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry heavier, bulkier items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Usually works in shops or other enclosed areas that are adequately lighted, ventilated and heated. Work may be dirty, dusty and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises and noise from sewing machines. Is also subject to strains and injury from lifting and handling heavy stock.
