Incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:
Under the guidance and assistance of the aircraft commander/flight instructor and in the role of a pilot, assist in the operation of aircraft in order to gain the experience needed to become a qualified pilot in the unit aircraft.
Participate in discussions, meetings or serve on panels or committees regarding unit aircraft and flying mission.
Perform and assist with other flight related duties supporting the accomplishment of the unit operational and training mission.

Typical risks or discomforts involved in flying any aircraft through combat maneuvers, night aerial refueling, low level flying and other tactics, and short notification.
Must be a rated pilot aircrew member on flying status in unit to which assigned. Must participate in regular and frequent flights as required by the commander.
Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass standardization/evaluation examinations which consist of both written tests and actual flight performance to demonstrate flight knowledge and abilities required of the position.
Must pass physical examination and meet annual flying requirements.
Incumbent is subject to the normal pressures, deadlines, and other conditions inherent in this position and others found in the aircrew occupation. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice.

Qualifications
Applicants must meeting flying hours requirements below, qualify for a USAF Pilot Rating, be an undergraduate pilot trainee (UPT) graduate, and be currently qualified (within the last 8 years) as an Airplane or Helicopter Pilot.
Flying Hours Required:
Airplane Pilot/Helicopter, GS-09
-Must have been awarded or qualify for a USAF Pilot rating and hold a aviation service aeronautical order. Must be an undergraduate pilot trainee (UPT) graduate. No specific number of flying hours are required.
Airplane Pilot/Helicopter, GS-11
-Must have been awarded or qualify for a USAF Pilot rating and hold a aviation service aeronautical order. Minimum of 300 total Military Flight Time in Mission Design Series (MDS).
Airplane Pilot/Helicopter, GS-12
-Must have been awarded or qualify for a USAF Pilot rating and hold a aviation service aeronautical order. Minimum of 750 total Military Flight Time in Mission Design Series (MDS).
NOTE: Flying hours logged as student pilot and simulator are creditable. Flying hours in fighter/training aircraft will be given two-for-one credit by the examining office (Student hours will not be doubled).
