As a Forensic Accountant with the DOE Office of Inspector General, you would be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
1. Providing financial analysis support to Criminal Investigators tasked with conducting complex criminal and administrative investigations into alleged misconduct, including cyber crime .
2. Collaborating with Criminal Investigators in planning and gathering evidence into criminal and noncriminal cases of the highest importance to the Department of Energy.
3. Assisting Criminal Investigators in preparing for interviews of witnesses and subjects. Accompanying investigators on interviews in nonvolatile situations and contributing to the gathering and clarification of information related to financial activities.
4. Analyzing and reviewing documents and financial activities to identify instances of fraud.
5. Providing significant input and writing portions of search warrant affidavits, subpoena requests, and criminal indictments based on investigative findings.
6. Testifying at hearings and criminal trials when necessary.

Appointment to this position may be subject to successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This position requires a security clearance and is subject to drug testing. The selectee must test negative prior to being appointed to this position and will be subject to random testing thereafter. Failure to pass subsequent tests could result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Federal service.
