Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Training Specialist in support of the DoD OIG mission.
  • Interfaces with Joint and Defense Agency IGs and other Federal Agency IGs coordinating Joint IG Policy.
  • Reviews and updates the DoD Joint IG Guides.
  • Conducts dialog with the Combatant Command (COCOM) IGs to ensure that the procedures/processes outlined in the Guides are relevant and applicable.
  • Designs and develops all courseware required to support effective classroom usage in accordance with the ISD or SAT model.
  • Researches, coordinates, and prepares briefings/replies for various tasks, correspondence, point papers, etc.
  • Leads and coordinates Mobile Training Teams (MTT) and/or Site Assistance Visits (SAV) activities.

  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
  • Required urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subject to random drug testing thereafter.
  • Drug testing is not required for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position to another with no break in service.

Qualifications

You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the functional process of inspections, assistance, and administrative investigations, and of instructional design and delivery methodology and techniques. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation; supervising or administering a training program; development or review of; training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps
build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You
will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Selective Placement Factor (SPF): Applicant must have experience in performing work as an Inspector General (IG) in the functional processes of inspections, assistance and administrative investigations.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience at this level.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
