Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is part of the 149th Fighter Wing and is located in Kelly Field, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on assigned missiles, operate, repair, maintain and calibrate missile test equipment, operate the Combat Ammunition System, store, handle and perform intermediate level maintenance on assigned conventional munitions.

Duties

Help

As a Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic (Title 32) with the Texas Air National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Accomplishes technical order compliance's and modifications of components and systems and complete systems checks for proper operations.
  • Loads, positions, safeties and downloads air munitions, Aircraft Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) and Acceleration Monitor Assembly (AMA) tracking pods using applicable handling, loading and checkout procedures and equipment.
  • Adjusts, inserts and removes cartridges and squibs, associated wing tanks and pylons, centerline pylons and chaff and flare dispensers.
  • Assists journey worker in the operation, troubleshooting, inspecting, installing, maintaining, overhauling, repairing or modifying complete operational aircraft ordnance electronic system(s) and subsystems consisting of numerous complex electronic components in fighter aircraft.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Texas Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Texas Air National Guard. Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To qualify at the WG-10 grade level, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment experience reflecting at least 18 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications.

  • Knowledge and skill to use precision test equipment, test program information, technical data, schematics, signal and data flow diagrams, test procedures, and mathematical formulas.
  • Knowledge and skill to troubleshoot the total ordnance system for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic defects using test equipment and measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principals in relationship to the aircraft ordnance systems to perform troubleshooting of the ordnance equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill in functions to conduct inspection, maintenance, installation, modification and repair of air munitions launch, release, suspension systems, and aircraft gun systems.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures and skill in diagnosing problems and determining corrective action for applicable problem within system.
  • Knowledge of personal computers (PC) to operate and run test equipment.
