Duties

Help

- Install, configure and maintain analytical applications such as SAS, Stata, R, Matlab and Polypaths/ALM in a hybrid cloud environment on multiple operating system platforms.

- Assist with the secure transfer of financial data to/from the Agency using a variety of platforms and software products.

- Assist with the administration of the Agency's financial analysis software, financial modeling programs and business intelligence/analytics reporting solutions.

- Assist with the administration, maintenance and upgrades of the Agency's Data Warehouse hardware and software environment.

- Assist with the administration, maintenance and upgrades of the Agency's Backup and Recovery system.

- Assist with the administration, maintenance and upgrades of the Agency's Storage Area Network (SAN) and replicated data topologies.

- Provide all levels of customer support in a multi-platform, highly technical, financial analysis, modeling and reporting environment.

- Work with Amazon Web Services and other cloud-based technologies and ability to integrate cloud services into a hybrid cloud architecture.

- Work with Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux and Oracle Solaris operating systems in both a virtualized and bare metal environment.

- Assist with ongoing IT Security audits, FISMA and NIST compliance scanning and remediation efforts.

The Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. Following the completion of program requirements, selectees may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment. All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement. Program requirements include but are not limited to:

-Successful completion of at least 1-year of continuous service
-Completion of at least 40 hours of interactive training
-Demonstration of successful job performance &
-Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted.

Qualifying experience for the EL/GS 09 level includes a Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

OR

A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management and one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to EL-07 (GS-07) which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT degree, as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Specialized experience. Examples of specialized experience include the following:

  • Familiarity with analytical applications such as SAS, Stata, R, Matlab or Polypaths/ALM in a hybrid cloud computing environment
  • Demonstrated technology troubleshooting skills and ability to work with vendor support to resolve technical issues in a timely manner
  • Ability to work with business partners to translate requirements into scalable and maintainable IT solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide spectrum of people to achieve team goals in a time sensitive environment

The Office of Technology and Information Management (OTIM) is responsible for ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of FHFA's information systems and information assets. The office maintains the Agency's information technology (IT) infrastructure, oversees the IT security program, develops and maintains custom applications and data repositories, manages technology resources, investments, and assets, establishes IT strategic plans, policies, and procedures, supports business partners, and manages the Agency's Records and Information Management Program.
