As the Director of States, Regional, and Local Partnerships, at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serving as the agency's nationally recognized expert and authority for the State/Regional/Locals (SAA/RAO/LAA) fields in discussions throughout the agency including collaborations with other divisions and discipline directors.
Reviewing applications and plans submitted by SAAs/RAOs/LAAs, managing panel review process for applications, propose funding amounts based on established policies, presenting grant recommendations for consideration by the Deputy Chairman, Senior Deputy Chairman, Chairman, and to the National Council on the Arts.
Selecting experts in the SAA/RAO/LAA fields to serve as advisory panelists and chair panel meetings
Organizing the application review process to provide fair and substantive review of the plans submitted by state arts agencies and regional arts organizations.
Participating in meetings and conferences addressing SAA/RAO/LAA issues, communicating NEA policy developments that may have an impact upon the SAA/RAO/LAA fields.
As requested, representing the agency in discussions with state and local government officials.
Traveling to attend meetings of significance to the SAA/RAO/LAA fields, maintaining good relations with leaders in the field and related fields, and keep abreast of their perspectives on current and future trends.
Serving as director of the Arts Engagement in American Communities (AEAC) funding opportunity
Serving as director of the Challenge America grant program.
Monitoring grantee performance through review and approval of progress, interim and final reports, amendment requests, conversations with the grantee, etc., to assure that the grantee is complying with the terms and conditions of the grant.
Preparing materials for such purposes as National Council on the Arts meetings, panel review meetings, agency publications, budget submissions, and Congressional hearings; or in response to questions from Chairman, Senior Management Team, Office of Public Affairs, Office of Guidelines and Panel Operations, Office of Council Operations, and the field.
Ensuring accomplishment of unit's objectives through combined technical and administrative direction of subordinates through planning/assigning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and recommending or taking corrective action.

Qualifications
To Qualify for this position:
You must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 level or higher (obtained in either the public or private sectors) This experience must have provided you with knowledge of the State Arts Agencies (SAA), Regional Arts Organizations (RAO), and/or Local Arts Agencies (LAA) fields, including knowledge of government operations and principles of strategic planning for public arts agencies; Applying analysis to assess and improve program effectiveness, including development of plans for new programs or initiatives; Providing analysis and advice to identify programmatic, policy, and operational issues; Communicating program information and engaging with leadership, the public, and various stakeholders; Leading and directing staff involved in and responsible for directed work.
