The INV AIG is responsible for executive leadership of the Division, and providing professional investigative advice and assistance to the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General on key issues affecting the Division. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Establish policies, objectives and priorities, and develop the strategic plan for accomplishing the Division's mission, including the management of personnel/human resources, information technology, budget, fleet, and equipment.
Lead a diverse workforce, coordinate a diverse array of sensitive and important investigative matters with internal and external organizations, and identify and integrate solutions for key issues affecting the organization including a wide range of factors impacting the investigations program.
Work with and through the Departmental policy-making and implementation structure and procedures to shape, formulate and recommend substantial and significant Investigative policies. Ensure that the policies, procedures and operations of OIG, as they relate to investigations, are effective, efficient, mutually supporting, and in conformance with recognized standards and Federal regulations. Serve as a leader in the OIG community on issues relevant to investigations.
Administer the review and approval of all reports of investigation to ensure that investigative findings are properly reported to the IG and Department agency heads and components.
Make recommendations regarding the structure and operations of the Investigations Division to the IG, and is a key player in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures within the Division.
Assign resources to conduct case work either from headquarters or the field. Approve operations and case work of field offices to provide investigative continuity of the organization and to ensure consistency of operations and compliance with policies, procedures, practices, priorities, objectives and goals.
Formulate and recommend OIG's position on relevant proposed or new legislation. Prepare responses on legislative matters and serve as the agency expert on criminal and administrative Investigative Issues and procedures.
Interact with the IG, the leadership of other Divisions within the OIG, other components of the DOJ, the Investigations Committee of the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), and other federal OIG's.
One-year SES probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
Selective Service Registration is required, as applicable.
Maintain firearm proficiency and successfully pass periodic tests.
Pass and maintain medical qualifications.
Possess and maintain a state issued driver's license.
Successful completion of the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA or an equivalent law enforcement training program.
Qualifications
This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES). As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive-level management capability. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent in the private sector.

Mandatory Technical Qualification(s)
Substantial, demonstrated experience in leading, managing, and supervising broad-ranging and complex criminal investigations and investigative matters (internally and externally) relating to alleged or suspected criminal or administrative violations of criminal laws focused on corruption, fraud, waste and abuse. (Experience as a Criminal Investigator or an equivalent position with experience with complex financial and white collar crime investigations.)
Substantial experience leading, managing and supervising the organization, drafting, editing and publication of highly complex investigative reports.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate program efforts with other internal and external organizations, represent the organization to key individuals and groups outside the immediate work unit, as well as serve as spokesperson for the organization.
