Summary

About the Position: Employees occupying these positions will provide emergency support to disaster stricken areas throughout the US. Employee must pass a stringent medical screening and be prepared to live and work in extremely austere conditions. Work schedule will initially be arduous, with much overtime. Sleeping arrangements may be limited to using a sleeping bag or in the vehicle used to move from location to location. The duty station for pay purposes for these positions is Kennewick, WA.

Duties

Help
  • Conduct management evaluations/inspections in a natural disaster or emergency area having over-site of a wide variety of hazardous and complex work operations and conditions found in construction.
  • Plan, develop, and direc the overall safety and occupational health program.
  • Oversee the prevention of injuries and property damage, occupational safety and health, hazard communication, confined space entry, explosives/blasting , control of hazardous energy, severe storm and weather etc.
  • Consider and evaluate serious conflicts between construction and operational requirements and the application of safety standards that effect completing the work on schedule.
  • Assist design and construction engineers in the application of safety and fire codes and safety engineering standards.

  • This position requires you to satisfactorily complete a medical examination.
  • This position requires 75% or greater Business Travel in various locations throughout the United States.
  • This position is a Temporary Position; that may be extended up to a maximum of four years TERM Position.
  • THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience conducting management evaluations/inspections in a natural disaster or emergency area having over-site of a wide variety of hazardous and complex work operations and conditions found in construction. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
