Duties

Help
  • Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Fit and install raceways, wiremold, and conduits, and assemble and install distribution, monitoring, and power panels.
  • Distribute a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, and phase and frequency arrangements such as 120V/208V - three phase; 440V/277V - three phase; and 120V - one phase through boxes, panels, and receptacles, and hardwires to equipment.
  • Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform the work of an Electrician independently without more than normal supervision to include tasks such as: servicing wiring systems, disassembly and assembly work, installing brackets, shelves and racks, removing and replacing controls and fixtures, and repairing wiring - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Trouble shooting (electrical)
  • Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions within shelters or vans. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks. Required to use ladders in performance of duties.
  • Work is usually performed inside well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Frequently works with trouble light and/or temporary lighting. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather and when on TDY assignments. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains, and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, solder, high voltage, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate to the position. Work in vans/shelters may be dusty.
