As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:

- Serve as the lead technical and policy authority for the Director, Information Technology Division, and for the Office of Inspector General concerning the various aspects of information resources and information assets management.
- Serve as a primary customer service coordinator for the Information Technology Division and oversees customer service activities of lnformation Technology Division staff.
- Represent the OIG on various VA, Federal, and outside entity information technology and telecommunications boards, groups, and organizations. 
- Oversee information security throughout the OIG that requires frequently working with various OIG management and staff along with VA, Federal agency, and other outside entity management and staff.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 
Performing a full range of advanced information technology security activities. Examples of this experience could include:
- Analyzing and preserving evidence used in reporting information security incidents; OR
- Analyzing and researching systems and software to assess risks and weaknesses; OR
- Conducting IT vulnerability assessments; OR
- Serving as an authority on information technology security audits; OR
- Providing expert advice based on research of governing policies, regulations, and legal precedents.
 
 
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
