Duties

Help

In this position you will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist with a duty station of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Researches, develops, implements and evaluates communication products designed to emphasize the scope, mission, vision and values of the Installation Management Command, which provides facilities, programs and services to support Army readiness, sustain the force and provide infrastructure for current and future mission requirements.
Develops comprehensive, focused communications plans tailored to a specific audience, defines media used to convey message, and executes an accurate, logical, and progressive plan, and conducts follow-up to assess effectiveness. Develops command information products designed to reach local and national audiences through commercial news media, such as wire services, web-based publications, radio and television broadcasts, magazines and newspapers.
Leverages social media and other online platforms to expand communications and engage internal and external audiences. Ensures products conform to DoD social media guidance and policy. Advises the Director of Public Affairs on important developments in media activity related to post.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualified candidates for the Public Affairs Specialist position must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 equivalent grade level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience at the GS-11 grade level or higher equivalency in interpreting program policies and recommending solutions to public affairs issues; and developing, editing, researching and proof reading communication materials.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

For this position, there is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.
