The Office of Education (Code 160) is seeking an intern to provide administrative and programmatic support for new and current education projects and events for NASA Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education opportunities.
As a Pathways Intern you will work under the guidance of and assist experienced professionals and/or nontechnical personnel in progressively responsible duties.
You will assist a senior Education Specialist with the following:
- provide administrative and programmatic support for new and current education projects, events, data calls, grants management, and reporting requirements with regard to NASA STEM education opportunities.
- provide support in coordinating, consolidating and reporting GSFC and NASA HQ education strategies, performance, assessment and data management requirements across internal and external STEM stakeholders.
- support and assist with administrative tasks such as coordinating calendar of activities, due dates, scheduling regular telecomms/meetings/virtual activities, etc. with grants principal investigators or university contacts
Enrolled/accepted in an accredited educational institution
Pursuing a degree
Maintain enrollment at least half time as defined by the institution
Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.9 on a 4.0 scale
You must have at least one year remaining in your studies before completing your degree requirements. (NOTE: One year must include consecutive Spring and Fall semesters). The expected completion date that you enter in the NASA Supplemental Questionnaire will be used in making this determination, and applicants who indicate a date prior to December 2019 will be found ineligible.
You must be at least 16 at the time of appointment.
You will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
You will be required to undergo a pre-employment background investigation.
You must meet eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
Starting GS grade levels are determined by education level:
GS-4: Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study. (1 academic year is the equivalent of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.) GS-4 starting salary: $15.89 per hour
GS-5: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree. (2 academic years is the equivalent of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours.) GS-5 starting salary: $17.78 per hour
GS-6: Completion of 3 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree. (3 academic years is the equivalent of 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours.) GS-6 starting salary: $19.82 per hour

You will serve a trial period for the duration of the Intern appointment.
You will be considered for the highest grade for which you qualify.
This appointment DOES NOT confer eligibility for promotion, noncompetitive conversion to a term or permanent appointment, or continued employment at NASA.
