Duties

Help

  • This position is located in the San Francisco Division, Sacramento, CA.
    The incumbent performs the following duties:
    • Receives seized evidence from special agents and diversion investigators and performs seized evidence control duties that follow established guidelines.
    • Performs day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining log books and files and processing paperwork while monitoring evidence inventory levels and movements. Creates/reviews evidence inventory reports.
    • Arranges for or coordinates the disposition, destruction, or return of evidence for the district/resident offices. Organizes and oversees loading, transport, unloading, and witness destruction of evidence.
    • Utilizes various types of software (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, desktop publishing, databases etc.) to generate specific working documents and forms. Creates and maintains records of evidence and vault inventory and produces bar code labels on all items for chain of custody tracking.
Significant factors related to the position.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel away from normal duty station on commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Incumbent may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than the normal duty hours and subject to calls after hours.

GS-7: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at the GS-06 Federal grade level performing the following duties: performing seized evidence control duties; receiving, documenting, cataloging, storing, retrieving, maintaining, and disposing of evidence following established guidelines. Monitoring and verifying evidence inventory/storage and movement using automated evidence tracking system.

GS-8: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at the GS-07 Federal grade level performing the following duties: performing seized evidence control duties; receiving, documenting, cataloging, storing, retrieving, maintaining, and disposing of evidence following established guidelines. Monitoring and verifying evidence inventory/storage and movement using automated evidence tracking system. Generating evidence inventory reports. Providing regulatory and procedural guidance to personnel on evidence control issues. Coordinating on-site inspections.
