Duties

Help

The incumbent will conduct a big-data-assisted breeding and genetics study aimed at improving abiotic stress tolerance in rice while maintaining agronomic and quality traits needed in commercial varieties. The incumbent is expected to use molecular, genetic, and bioinformatics approaches to:

1) study the genetic factors that control abiotic stress tolerance in rice;

2) discover genes or molecular markers linked to abiotic stress tolerance and other key agronomic traits; and

3) develop methodologies and computational tools for more efficient selection in breeding programs.

•  This position requires up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

This position requires a recent Ph.D in computational biology, plant breeding, genetics or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

This position has a positive education requirement. You must submit a copy of your academic transcripts OR a list of college courses with credit hours, dates completed, and grades received to verify education when applying for this position. Education
