Duties

Help
  • Provides technical support for recruitment and placement in Delegated Examining, Merit Promotion, excepted service hiring, and specialized recruiting programs.
  • Provides technical support for a wide range of HCM functions including classification, position management, recruitment, staffing, employee relations and work life programs.
  • Conducts pre-employment processes.
  • Processes or coordinates processing of Permanent Change of Station actions and actions needed to support OIG personnel in foreign locations.
  • Establishes and maintains a variety of electronic and hard copy records.
  • Utilizes a number of HR information systems.
  • Works with one or more shared service providers in processing staffing and placement actions.
  • Performs assigned special technical projects and supports larger directorate projects.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subject to random drug testing thereafter.
  • Drug testing is not required for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position to another with no break in service.
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

For GS-08, you must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-7 level in the federal service or an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: HR or comparable technical function experience such as processing actions using automated or other information systems; using MS Office applications; performing technical office support duties; establishing and maintaining files; and arranging meetings and conferences.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no substitution of education for experience at this level.
