Duties

Help
  • You will analyze immediate and long-range community relations needs at NMCSD, including interactions with the City of San Diego, and formulate strategic plans to meet them.
  • You will develop and implement short and long-term marketing and communication plans to promote healthcare-related products, services, programs and issues across hospital and branch health clinics.
  • You will advise the Public Affairs Officer of postential controversies and any other development with wide-ranging implications.
  • You will meet with councils and committees established by the Command to foster morale and address command climate issues; advise the Command on communication tactics and strategies.
  • You will develop news releases and media advisories to support external communication efforts.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, all direct and indirect care providers and administrators who may come in contact with patients, must recieve and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza.
  • The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing and implementing short and long-term marketing and communication plans to promote healthcare-related products, services, programs and issues across a hospital and branch health clinics; developing a variety of articles, news releases and briefings that effectively transmit information about complex programs, activities and functions; collecting and analyzing public opinion and developing recommendations for stimulating interest in the agency's activities; planning, directing and coordinating complex public affairs information programs.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
