Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Branch Chiefs and/or Team Leaders and staff by providing critical programmatic, technical, and administrative assistance as required to assist in accomplishing the mission of the organization. Incumbent functions as assistant office manager for the various branches, and as such works closely with epidemiologists, behavioral scientists, public health advisors, interns, and visiting scientists.

Duties

Help
  • Prepare agendas, notebooks and other meeting related materials as needed by staff.
  • Proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Branch/Team calendars in order to minimize scheduling conflicts.
  • Arrange meeting spaces for conferences and meetings.
  • Collect information and input transactions (ie. credit card purchases, travel, conference registration, etc.) into the appropriate databases.
  • Utilize an automated system in order to maintain time and attendance records.
  • Respond to inquiries from officials within an organization, members of Congress, state agencies, visitors, and/or national organizations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

For GS-6: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS- 5 grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in performing a variety of administrative support tasks for an organization.

For GS-7: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS- 6 grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in providing administrative and programmatic support for an organization.

For GS-6: Have 6 months of graduate level education in a field of study directly related to the work of this position.
OR
Have combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualifications requirements.

For GS-7: Have one year of graduate level education in a field of study directly related to the work of this position.
OR
Have combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualifications requirements.
