Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and manages the personnel and activities of the Recruitment Branch.
  • Exercises managerial authority to strategize, and oversee complex human resources initiatives or projects.
  • Serves as principal advisor to high levels of management within the Smithsonian on staffing, hiring, position management, position classification, compensation, and other related employment issues.
  • Develops metrics and reports related to the recruitment function for use by OHR and Smithsonian management.

Qualifications

Experience:
GS-15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level that is close or similar to the work of this job. For this position specialized experience is defined as experience managing human resources activities for a variety of functional areas of recruitment & staffing, competitive examining, hiring, compensation, and position classification. In addition, experience includes strategizing and formulating long-term recruitment and employment goals that directly impact agency-wide initiatives.

Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.

  1. Knowledge and skills necessary to plan, organize, direct and manage a workforce.
  2. Knowledge of the aspects of a wide range of HR functions including recruitment, placement, staffing,compensation , position classification and other related areas.
  3. Skill in oral communication to present complex, highly technical information.
  4. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques.
  5. Skill in written communication to address customer requirements, develop internal operating procedures and guidelines and present complex, and highly technical information.
