Provides technical expertise, leads, directs, and/or coordinates major investigation incidents involving the accidental release of hazardous chemicals; on-the scene fact-finding phase of the investigation and all related activities.
Serving as an Investigator-in Charge (IIC), incumbent prepares project plans, establishing milestones and target dates. Manages resources and expenditures related to the investigation in accordance with Board Orders, directives and policies.
Develops and writes outlines, factual and analytical reports and prepares exhibits, tables, charts, graphs, etc.
Writes the final report to include facts, conditions, circumstances surrounding the incident, root and contributing causes, conclusion and proposed recommendations, assuring all pertinent safety issues are identified and addressed.
Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation.
Direct Deposit of pay is required.
Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt.

At the GS-13 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to: Demonstrate advanced knowledge and mastery of the advanced principles, concepts, theories and practices of industrial chemical incident investigation including site security, evidence and data collection, witness interview, and follow-up activities. Proven advance knowledge of chemical production operations, industrial chemical/petroleum safety programs, and process safety management programs in the private sector. Demonstrate ability to synthesize large volumes of information and research to write major reports, prepare and deliver formal oral presentations, and complete major project on the findings of chemical.
At the GS-14 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level.
