Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist within the Water Mission Area, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise Technology Office, some of your specific duties will include:

- Lead team development including resolve conflicts in technical approach among technical staff, identify risks with project leads, identify

and resolve skill gaps within the development team, develop strategies for meeting code release goals.

- Supervise and manage a geographically dispersed team of software developers.

- Provide advanced senior level information technology lead project management services for critical national-level projects.

- Provides technical guidance for the duties related to Team support, gives guidance on new or revised procedures, regulations and directives

- Collaborates with other senior technical colleagues in determining whether a system would be hosted from government hardware or cloud-based considering many aspects including cost, need for high availability, technical stack, FISMA rating of the system, ease of onboarding and moving systems in different environments.

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?

  • This position requires completion of a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period, if one has not previously been completed.
  • Because this position requires travel for official business, the selectee will be required to apply for a charge card within 30 calendar days of appointment. Individuals who have delinquent account balances from a previous Government charge card will be required to satisfy their existing obligation before a new card can be issued.

Qualifications

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate

GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent):
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-14 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service that demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. Examples of such experience may include: serving as expert/consultant on information system analysis, design, testing & implementation; integration of new applications with existing information systems, maintaining data integrity; translation of strategic planning objectives into tactical process plans; coordination of applications development, special information systems projects & new computer program development.
