Summary

This position is located in the Hotline Directorate for Administrative Investigations in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). The Incumbent is responsible for the conduct and oversight of investigations into allegations against senior officials within the DoD. The division also conducts reviews, surveys, and studies, when required.

Duties

Help
  • Tracks and monitors notifications of investigative cases, preliminary inquiries, incoming and outgoing correspondence and reports of investigations.
  • Analyzes investigative case files and correspondence including reports of investigation for Congressional inquiries.
  • Prepares and edits interim and final Congressional correspondence and reports of investigation.
  • Tracks and monitors notifications of investigative cases, incoming and outgoing correspondence, case referrals and reports of inquiry.
  • Makes recommendations for strategies on reports of investigations.

  • Position has been designated as Critical. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to conduct drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another TDP with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

Specialized Experience:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent that demonstrates skill in providing investigative support services during investigative cases, including opening and closing cases; conducting preliminary examination and evaluation of allegations of fraud, waste, abuse or mismanagement; enters, extracts and analyzes investigative data from an electronic case management system to determine priority level of complaint; and reviews final reports of inquiry.

You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent that demonstrates skill in providing investigative support services during investigative cases, including opening and closing cases; conducts preliminary examination and evaluation of allegations of fraud, waste, abuse or mismanagement; enters, extracts and analyzes investigative data from an electronic case management system to determine priority level of complaint; and reviews final reports of inquiry.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualifications and time-in-grade (if applicable) requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
