Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Enforcement and Removal Assistant (OA), you will provide broad administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. The nature of the work supports and significantly affects the organizations operations and objectives. Typical work assignments include:
  • Administering the human resources management functions relative to the staff supervised;
  • Performing a variety of technical and clerical duties associated with arranging the physical removal of aliens including the preparation and delivery of documents,
  • Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work;
  • Hearing and resolving complaints from employees, referring group grievances, and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level of supervisor or manager; and
  • Preparing statistical and narrative reports, issuing written instructions, and procedures on established policies, special programs, and complex non-routine assignments.

Qualifications

Experience:One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service, performing duties such as:

  • Examining detention and deportation documents for conformance with procedures and requirements and determining appropriate action;
  • Collecting, analyzing and evaluating data from law enforcement databases;
  • Analyzing case files to determine completeness, validity and accuracy of documents and records relating to the intake and release of detainees; and
  • Preparing correspondence, warrants of deportation removal, warrants of arrest, orders of supervision and other documentation related to the immigration process.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.

Consideration will be given to performance appraisals and incentive awards as an indicator of quality of prior experience; no points will be assigned.

Interview Requirement: Interviews may be required for this position. Failure to complete the interview may result in removal from further consideration.
