This is a term position not to exceed two years and may be extended two years.

This is an episodic, intermittent position, on an irregular or occasional basis with hours and days of work not on a prearranged schedule and with compensation for the actual time employed or for service rendered.


Applicants must understand that the work performed is primarily related to readiness for and deployment for response during the aftermath of a disaster or public health emergency, where work may be field-based, that may be remote and austere, caring for sick, injured, dying, or deceased persons. This work requires above average health, physical, and mental conditioning with routine long periods of repetitive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, such as carrying national disaster medical system equipment or heavy patients on litters. Incumbent must be capable of working in a high stress, high-security, remote, austere, and uncharacterized environment, void of infrastructure and vital services, requiring specific physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50 pounds, and work characteristics that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. For these reasons, employees are required to complete a physical and health screening process to meet and maintain certain physical standards, as well as mental, behavioral, and cognitive competencies.

Duties

Help

  1. Manage and coordinate the logistics staff support work aspects of the operation; perform staff support work involving communications, transportation, security and safety, and environmental sanitation activities.
  2. Work with contractors performing activities and maintains logistical accountability for disposal requirements, and other areas to assure appropriate application of policies and procedures to enhance ASPR's readiness and response capability.
  3. Receive property, equipment and supplies and maintains accountable records on specified classes of nonexpendable property.
  4. Assist with overall coordination for the Base of Operation (BoO) infrastructure to include set-up, supply and inventory control, equipment maintenance, transportation, communication and demobilization.

Qualifications

This is a Standing Register - Open Continuous Announcement and will have an initial cutoff on 05/11/18, and the vacancy will close on June 15, 2018. Applications received AFTER a cutoff date will be considered in the next group of candidates.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-06, in the Federal service assisting in the development of plans for communications services, transportation, security and safety, and environmental sanitation activities; serving as the initial point of contact for coordinating logistic services; ensuring that all accountable property is properly tagged or marked and maintaining data and providing information regarding the status and readiness of logistical services.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
