The Deputy Inspector General for Policy and Oversight (DIG-P&O) mission is to:
Provide oversight and policy guidance for DoD audit and investigative activities
Conduct engineering assessments of DoD programs.
Provide technical advice and support to DoD OIG projects.
Operate the DoD OIG subpoena and contractor disclosure programs.
These positions are located within the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Policy and Oversight (P&O), Investigative Policy and Oversight (IPO).
Summary
The Deputy Inspector General for Policy and Oversight (DIG-P&O) mission is to:
Provide oversight and policy guidance for DoD audit and investigative activities
Conduct engineering assessments of DoD programs.
Provide technical advice and support to DoD OIG projects.
Operate the DoD OIG subpoena and contractor disclosure programs.
These positions are located within the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General, Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Policy and Oversight (P&O), Investigative Policy and Oversight (IPO).
Plans and executes evaluations of criminal investigations within the Department of Defense related to suspected violations of laws, regulations, and policies.
Plans, schedules, and conducts evaluations of investigative and law enforcement programs.
Plans and executes Congressional and special investigations of DoD matters as directed by the Inspector General.
Plans, schedules, and conducts highly complex oversight reviews of violent and other crime to ensure compliance with investigative directives, standards, and guidelines.
Prepares impartial, clear and concise investigative and evaluation reports to be issued by the Office of Inspector General.
Evaluates Department of Defense-wide policies regarding criminal matters of interest to the Department; identifies the need for revisions, changes or deletions of current policies, procedures or practices.
Analyzes affidavits to support the issuance of subpoenas related to violations of criminal law and violations of the False Claims Act.

This position requires quarterly weapons qualifications to carry and use government-owned firearms as part of assigned duties.
Must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
This position requires a pre-employment physical readiness test which is also required periodically for the duration of employment.

This position is considered a secondary law enforcement position and is covered under the special retirement provision for secondary law enforcement positions.
The selectee will be required to work, or be available to work, substantial amounts of unscheduled overtime based on agency need, and will receive availability pay, a form of premium pay fixed at 25% of the adjusted salary (basic + locality).
Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment in the excepted service.
The selectee must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as investigating crimes covered by the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Candidates will be further evaluated on the level and quality of their experience and possession of the following competencies in order to determine the level of your qualifications:
Skill in planning, organizing, and conducting criminal investigations
Knowledge of DoD criminal investigative organizations, operations, and programs
Ability to communicate in writing
