Duties

Help
  • Supervises the planning and execution of evaluations of criminal investigations within the Department of Defense related to suspected violations of laws, regulations, and policies
  • Supervises the planning, scheduling, and execution of evaluations of investigative and law enforcement programs
  • Supervises the planning and execution of Congressional and special investigations of DoD matters as directed by the Inspector General
  • Supervises the planning, scheduling and execution of highly complex oversight reviews of violent and other crime to ensure compliance with investigative directives, standards, and guidelines
  • Supervises the preparation of impartial, clear and concise investigative and evaluation reports to be issued by the Office of Inspector General
  • Supervises the evaluation of Department of Defense-wide policies regarding criminal matters of interest to the Department to identify the need for revisions, changes or deletions of current policies, procedures or practices
  • Supervises the analysis of affidavits to support the issuance of subpoenas related to violations of criminal law and violations of the False Claims Act
  • Perform the full range of supervisory duties to include: determining budgets and resources to achieve project goals; selection of staff; executing the full range of human resource actions, such disciplinary action, performance appraisals, and awards
  • Promote a non-hostile work environment; and, ensuring compliance with Department internal control and Equal Employment Opportunity requirements and labor management agreements

  • Position has been designated as Top secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) ; incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Security Clearance
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with Department of Defense (DoD) OIG.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • This is an Excepted Service position
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical exam and a pre-employment physical readiness test. An annual physical exam and semi-annual physical readiness test is required for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires qualifications to carry and use government-owned firearms as part of assigned duties (and maintain this qualification).
  • The applicant selected for this position must be able to qualify and maintain authorization to carry firearms including no current or previous domestic violence charges/convictions.
  • Employees are ineligible for this position if, at any time, they have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless the conviction was expunged, set aside, or he/she received a pardon.
  • Incumbent will be required to work, or be available to work substantial amounts of unscheduled overtime duty based on the needs of the agency.
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a trial period with the Federal Government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two year trial period.
  • Requires 25% of temporary duty travel (TDY) within and outside of the U.S.
  • Required to submit a financial disclosure form at time of appointment and annually.
  • Requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Requires less than 25% of temporary duty travel (TDY).

Qualifications

You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as investigating crimes covered by Department of Defense Instruction and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
