Security Clearance: This position has been designated national security Level III, Critical Sensitive. Applicants must possess a favorably adjudicated Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), and have been awarded a Top Secret clearance or be willing to undergo a SSBI, and the SSBI must be favorably adjudicated. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination. Continued employment with FinCEN is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the SSBI, the results of which fully meet the FinCEN's special employment criteria. All employees are subject to satisfactory completion of periodic reinvestigation and a continuing life style in conformity with applicable national and FinCEN directives. Any unfavorable information developed during an investigation or other official inquiry may result in termination of employment in accordance with established security policies and procedures.

As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:

- Advise and collaborate with IT managers and program managers on approaches to accomplishing IT goals that often involve significant changes in approach or technology;

- Analyze and define requirements and specifications for complex systems, applications and processes;

- Prepare proposals, policies, guidelines, analyses, specifications, procedures, and other materials tailored to the situation and the audience; and

- Research new concepts and products, and keep current on emerging technology in order to determine whether they might be worth employing.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

- serving as an advisor to specialists and managers in evaluating, implementing and supporting information technology infrastructure projects, network systems, databases and security operations; and
- serving as a technical consultant to customers in support of systems on an organization's servers; and
- diagnosing causes of complex critical systems administration problems and devising innovative solutions for their resolution; and
- analyzing server performance data and recommending changes and/or improvements as necessary.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
