Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate events (e.g., tours, media activities) to represent an installation and command personnel in civil or public affairs and community relations.
  • Serve as a liaison between organization and media representatives and community groups.
  • Coordinate the execution of a collaborative region-wide community relations or outreach program.
  • Respond to inquiries from outside activities (e.g., Congressional letters, government officials, other government agencies and industry representatives).

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

The work is primarily performed in an office setting, at a desk, in conference rooms, briefings, meetings, etc., or riding in an automobile or public transportation.

Work involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical to the office setting or commercial vehicles such as planes trains, buses or automobiles.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Manage Public Affairs programs and act as Public Affairs Officer in absence 2) Writing, editing, photography, social media and emergency response for Public Affairs support; 3) Determine appropriate appearance, format, balance, method of expression, and presentation of materials for issuance; and 4) Write news releases, comments, and speeches for command. Education: Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field that is directly related to the work of the position; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree in a field that is directly related to the work of the position; OR a LL.M.or if related to the position. Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Have a combination of specialized experience and progressively higher level education as described above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement.
