About the Position:
This position will support the US Army Aviation and Missile Command, TMDE Activity, Army Primary Standards Laboratory, Applied Physics Standard s Laboratory, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. The Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), a life cycle management command is headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, a 38,000 acre installation that is home to over 60 international, Federal, and Department of Defense organizations. It is a major subordinate command of the Army Materiel command. AMCOM works in partnership with Program Executive Officers and Project Managers, furnishing nearly 1,950 staff spaces dedicated to providing integration engineering, logistics and contracting support covering over 90 major systems - about half the systems in the U.S. Army.

The city of Huntsville, is a high-tech city nestled between the edge of the Appalachian Mountains in North Alabama and the Tennessee River. The area has one of the largest research parks in the United States. It is also home to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, championship golf courses, museums, professional theater, symphony, sports franchises and malls. Help

  • Calibrate and maintain complex instrumentation systems and components
  • Perform special measurements and tests.
  • Analyze the reliability and maintainability of equipment supported.
  • Collect data and prepare reports documenting efforts to provide certification for primary and secondary level laboratory standards and systems.
  • Work with engineers, scientists and technicians to develop, design and utilize systems.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: knowledge of metrology and calibration; develop, design and utilize systems and procedures related to hardware and software; data collection, analysis, and inference; data reporting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service
(GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent
