Summary

This position is located in the United States (US) Mint, Office of the Information Technology Department (ITD), Infrastructure & Operations Service Division (IOSD), Data Center Operations Branch. The ITD manages US Mint-wide automated information systems, including data processing systems, office automation, telecommunications, data Center, data networks and all related hardware and software; and manages, coordinates and directs the US Mint's nation-wide policies, operations, design, configuration management, training, contracts oversight and other ITD activities.

Duties

Help

As a Information Technology Specialist, you will:

- Provide in-depth support and lead problem-solving and implementation efforts for specific technology services, hardware, products or applications.

- Respond to system alerts from network, application and server performance issues or outages, inquiries and requests for assistance with organization's complex server, application and network problems, and resolves customer inquiries and Data Center Level 1 escalated tickets for one or more products or services.

- Analyze complex issues and determine appropriate technical support or vendor to resolve problems and escalate very difficult and complex problems to the next level of support as required by documented procedures.

- Provide oversight of the contractors' day-to-day activity of the data center operations throughout the US Mint data center.

- Responsible for the resolution of the most complex problems including restoring service through diagnosis and resolving a wide range of operating problems including unprecedented, complex failures in critical systems.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Experience providing Infrastructure and operations management, Advanced technological structures and troubleshooting, accurate repeatable work products, and operational support services that complement a business processes.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
