We offer our interns interesting, challenging work in core operational elements in the following offices that support the DSS mission and vision:

     Counterintelligence (CI)

Industrial Security Integration and Application (IP)

Counterintelligence (CI): The mission of the DSS Counterintelligence (CI) Directorate is to identify threats to U.S. technology and programs resident in cleared industry and articulate that threat to stakeholders.

Industrial Security Integration & Application (IP): Administers the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) pursuant to Executive  Order (EO) 12829 to ensure the protection of Federal Government classified information provided to industry.  IP's essential mission is to interpret policy and provide guidance for the DoD and other US Government Agencies, assess and verify NISP facilities' data to highlight vulnerabilities in the defense industrial base, and manage the security oversight function of DSS' direct and indirect support of the Special Access Program community.

·   Business Analysis and Mitigation Strategy (BAMS) Division - Business Analysis & Mitigation Strategy highlights vulnerabilities to the defense industrial base through its mission of identifying foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI) within cleared U.S. contractors and mitigating risks associated with foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI) in the National Industrial Security Program.  Mitigation Strategy negotiates contractual agreements that require FOCI companies to acknowledge and mitigate those risks.

 ·   Enterprise Mission Management Cell (EMMC) Division - Comprised of analysts from all operation elements of DSS (counterintelligence, Security, Policy, and Education) and provides robust reviews of companies entering or operating in the National Industrial Security Program by fusing threat, vulnerability, and impact information into overarching analytic risk assessments.  The analysis generated through the Enterprise Mission Management Cell drives risk mitigation measures and is presented to senior level government officials in support of their decision making process.
