Individual is part of the on ratio staff and provides assistance to participants in strengthening their academic and learning skills, particularly in the areas of math, science, and English language (communication) skills.
Works with Youth Education Support Services staff to develop and implement a comprehensive program to assist students in the completion of daily homework assignments, reinforce existing and develop new skills, and positively support children through recognition of their efforts.
Develops linkages with parents, School Liaison Officer, other CYS Program Associates (such as working in the technology lab), and volunteer
tutors to ensure homework center is fully integrated into all applicable program settings.
Works cooperatively with trainer and supervisor to create a program setting that provides areas/materials/methods for different styles of learning i.e., auditory, visual, etc. as well as desks/tables, soft areas, small individual as well as large group space.
Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth.

Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on the job competency is required.
Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility as determined by medical authority.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess all of the requirements below:
A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), AND
MUST be 18 years of age at the time of appointment (Projected Appointment Date: 11/02/2017), AND
Possess the ability to communicate in English (both written and verbal), AND
Possess (and maintain) a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA/School-Age/Youth Credential (including Boys and Girls Clubs of American)/ Army Youth Practicum (YOU MUST UPLOAD THE CREDENTIAL UNDER TRANSCRIPTS SECTION AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION) AND possess twelve (12) months of experience working in a related field; OR Possess a Bachelor degree with a major emphasis (at least 24 semester hours completed) in Early Child Education (ECE), Elementary Education, Child Development, Home Economics, Special Education or a related field (YOU MUST UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION) AND possess work experience directly related to the duties of this position, AND
Possess the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, AND
Possess the physical ability to walk, bend, and stoop and stand on a routine basis.

Additional information
- Salary depends on actual hours worked. Hourly rate for leave and pay will be $16.79 to $17.75 per hour
