Serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional measurements applicable to the secondary transfer level calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). The purpose is to provide measurement traceability through an Army Area Calibration Laboratory, the Army Primary Standards Laboratory, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology to the International System of Units, and provide information on TMDE accuracy and uncertainty. Performs repairs incidental to calibration as required.

Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision appling troubleshooting procedures and practices to repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Use of calibration standards and automated workstations to calibrate test instruments such as multi-meters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes under the close supervision of a work leader or journey level Precision Measurement Calibrator who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Troubleshooting
PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
