Provides comprehensive reference, research, and information services support to a research team in response to requests for information related to health, toxicological, behavioral, or physiologic effects of tobacco products and their constituents, ingredients, components, and additives.
The specialist plans, develops, and maintains computer- based files used for storage and retrieval of toxicological and environmental information of national and international scope.
Provides comprehensive reference, research, and information services support to a research team in response to request.
Prepares literature searches and bibliographies on a diversity of topics using a wide variety of bibliographic databases in health and life sciences that are available at the FDA.
Provides a technical role in the planning, developing, managing and evaluation of all activities related to the development of a CTP system for the capture, management, storage and retrieval of tobacco industry research documents.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for Technical Information Specialist, 1412-12/13 you must meet the following:
GS-12:
Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service, include analyzing
and reviewing scientific literature, databases, and cataloging for accuracy and
relevant accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
GS-13:
Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service, to include
developing a literature database, analyzing and finding solutions to web
accessibility compliance defects and developing and maintaining content
management systems for or scientific research content.
