Help

As a Supervisory Investigator (Whistleblower Reprisal) GS-1810-14, your typical work assignment may include the following under supervision:

  • Serves as supervisor of a team of investigators who conduct sensitive, complex investigations into allegations of whistleblower reprisal, and special assignments as directed.
  • Independently conducts sensitive, complex investigations into allegations that are considered most sensitive and/or involve senior DoD officials, and other special assignments as directed.
  • Monitors and evaluates staff investigative efforts and quality of written reports for compliance with established timelines, regulations, and policies, and quality standards.
  • Prioritizes team/s assignments; manages deadlines; develops performance plans, monitor performance and prepares final appraisals; interviews prospective internal and external candidates; identifies staff training needs and determines disciplinary action.
Travel up to 20% TDY may be required within this position.

Other Position Requirements
Position has been designated as Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
The incumbent of this position is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with the DoD OIG. If you are currently an employee of DoD and in a Drug Testing Designated (DTD) position, you are not required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen. However you will be required to submit to random drug testing while employed while employed with DoD OIG.
If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

You may qualify for the GS-14 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications requirements:

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as:planning and managing all aspects of reprisal investigation and/or leading an investigation to include interviewing witnesses and gathering relevant evidence, as well as documenting the investigation and writing a report of investigation. Must have experience researching Federal laws and regulations and demonstrated experience compiling data via formal interviews and written reports, analyzing evidence and developing written reports, and recommendations gathered during a reprisal investigation. Must have experience using information management programs to include word processing, presentation and/or spreadsheet/database software.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
