Summary
NSF is relocating to Alexandria, Virginia. In late summer of 2017, NSF will begin the transition from its current location in Arlington, VA to 2415 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314. The new location is adjacent to a Metro station (Eisenhower Avenue on the Yellow Line) and there is ample parking in the area. There are several amenities nearby, such as restaurants, hotels, and shops.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Program Director in the Directorate for Geosciences (GEO), Division of Earth Sciences’ (EAR) Geobiology and Low-Temperature Geochemistry (GG) Program. The GG Program supports innovative research on geochemical processes in terrestrial Earth’s surface environmental systems, as well as the interaction of geochemical and biological processes. The program supports field, laboratory, theoretical, and modeling studies of these processes and related mechanisms at all spatial and temporal scales.
The Division of Earth Sciences supports proposals for research geared toward improving the understanding of the structure, composition, and evolution of the Earth; the life it supports; and the processes that govern the formation and behavior of the Earth’s materials. The results of this research will create a better understanding of the Earth’s changing environments, and the natural distribution of its mineral, water, biota, and energy resources and provide methods for predicting and mitigating the effects of geologic hazards such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and landslides. In addition, the Division administers programs in support of education and outreach as well as basic research, facilities, and a wide spectrum of other scientific activities.
