This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary for Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer, Smithsonian Institution (SI). The incumbent serves as the central point of contact for Smithsonian and affiliated staff regarding any work-related problems or concerns. He/she will also serve as the SI's Threat Assessment Program Coordinator.
Summary

The incumbent serves as the central point of contact for Smithsonian and affiliated staff regarding any work-related problems or concerns. He/she will also serve as the SI's Threat Assessment Program Coordinator.

Maintains a continuing record and analysis of issues and problems arising from meetings with employees, managers, and supervisors.
Maintains ongoing review and analysis of the line of organizational communication, making specific recommendations to senior management on how best to continue effective and open lines of communication between employees, supervisors, managers, and senior executives at all levels.
Assists SI staff in responding to inquiries and requests for information from internal and external sources on a wide range of organizational and/or employee related issues.
Provides leadership to staff in improving the processes and procedures that enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the program. Recommends changes to policies and procedures as necessary.
Serves as the SI's Threat Assessment Program Coordinator, implementing and administering the Threat Assessment Program.
May be required to serve a one-year probationary <br>period.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as experience analyzing information and providing management with recommendations, strategies, and approaches to resolve complex workforce concerns. working with staff performing problem resolutions across organizational/agency boundaries; assisting in answering questions and helping staff understand and explore their options for actions; serving as a communication conduit between conflicting individuals with the goal of expediting informal dispute resolutions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
