The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Managing public affairs program to promote learning and interest by internal and external audiences.
  • Providing general editorial and processing guidance to members of the Command regarding preparation and processing documents and article for release to the public.
  • Maintaining contacts throughout the command as well as with the media, external stakeholders, and other individuals of considerable influence to build coalitions and facilitate information sharing.
  • Disseminating literature designed to inform internal and external audiences.

Work is normally performed in an office setting which has adequate light, heat and ventilation.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (secret) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing and disseminating written materials to convey information concerning complex programs or functions to diverse audiences and managing the public release process for technical information.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
